Design of Vehicle Range Extender

Final year Mechanical Students of AITD have developed a vehicle aiming at greener tomorrow. Project named as Vehicle Range Extender. Front wheel of vehicle is fitted with electric hub motor which is mounted and powered by a pack of five Lead-acid batteries. Rear wheel is driven by internal combustion petrol engine. Vehicle is parallel Hybrid, both modes are independently operated. Rider has option to select the drive mode desired instead of the bike automatically switching over the modes depending on the speed variation. Reduced air emissions and increased range was the key objective of project and which was achieved. Project was done by Vincente Cabral, Shorwin De Souza, Nathaniel Bragança, Phlegon Fernandes and Anish Chandelkar under guidance of Prof. Amol Patil.
