DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF MANURE SPREADER

Manure spreading is an essential and pre requisite process for agriculture. This manure spreading is laborious and time consuming for a farmer who owns a large scale of land. There are modern and high-tech equipment available in the market for manure spreading but they cannot be afforded by the small-scale farmers due to their enormously high cost. This problem is overcome by the students Mechanical Engineering department of AITD, through their innovative project “Design and Fabrication of Manure Spreader”.
This manure spreader mechanism comprises of various features like automatic loading of manure in the hopper, breaking of the lumps of the manure, spreading it evenly on the fields and controlling the quantity of manure falling on the field. The team member of the project Mr. Vinay Betkekar, Mr. Aditya Gaunekar, Mr. Wilber Pereira, Mr.Sahil Chodankar and Mr. Swatish Ajgaonkar have taken into consideration all the crucial factors from the view point of a farmer, while designing this manure spreader.
This manure spreader is equipped with a 98cc engine, through which the spreader can be driven across the field. It is enabled with a hopper which can carry organic manure up to 25kg and can be loaded mechanically without labour intervention. This mechanism is also capable of breaking the lumps in to fine particles and evenly spreading the manure through a specified distance by means of a spreader. The entire manure spreader has been made at a cost which is quite affordable by the small-scale farmers. The project was guided by Prof. M. Prabhakaran and Co-guided by Prof. Prasanna C. Kattimani.
This project would be definitely a boon to the farmers when implemented in their fields.
