The previous method used for elections was Ballots paper and EVM. It uses election cards for authentication which had many drawbacks like voting multiple times etc. The Proposed system will authenticate using biometrics, and the person will be able to vote for the desired candidate. For candidate identification, a fingerprint recognition based identification system is used. Fingerprint features are considered to be the best and fastest method for biometric identification. These features are more secure to use and unique for every person that don’t change in one’s lifetime. To overcome difficulties of the existing system, a new system has been proposed which uses a minutiae based algorithm. It is the fastest and most reliable method for fingerprint identification and the obtained result will then be compared with the pattern based system. In minutiae based algorithm, the minutiae details of the finger are stored and not the original image. This is useful since it requires much less memory, and is required when there are a large number of fingerprints to be stored. Minutiae based algorithm is more accurate and more efficient the the pattern based algorithm
