STUDENT PARLIAMENT COMPETITION 2026

Agnel Institute of Technology and Design (AITD), Assagao participated in the Student’s Parliament Competition 2025–2026 organised by the Goa Legislature Secretariat on 17th February 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The competition provided students with an opportunity to experience the functioning of a legislative assembly and  to engage in struct ured parliamentary debate.

           The AITD team comprised 26 students: Sahil Goes, Sharon Abreo, Neil Francisco Souza, Dia Ann Saji, Manasa Prabhu, Areeb Shaikh, Bhakti Narvekar, Arya Bandiwadkar, Dakshesh Verma, Deekshith T. S., Jigyasa Vaishnav, Ashwith Shetty, Shrish Bordekar, Aaditya Bichu, Joshua Fernandes, Joyce Martins, Rahul Rathod, Sada Fathima, Samiksha Kole, Anouschka Fernandes, Ryan Pinto, Shaan Vazarkar, Sanvi Shetgaonkar, Ayushi Ghadi, Yanni Sequeira. The team was trained and guided by the faculty coordinator, Ms. Lynn Dias.

The competition followed the format of the Vidhan Sabha, wherein students were divided into a ruling party and an opposition party. The participants conducted themselves in accordance with parliamentary procedures, maintaining decorum and discipline throughout the proceedings.

During the session, students actively engaged in raising issues of public concern, debating on selected topics, and presenting their viewpoints in a structured and formal manner. The activity enabled participants to understand the process of identifying relevant issues, framing well-supported arguments, and articulating perspectives on important social and developmental matters.

The event provided valuable exposure to the functioning of parliamentary systems and helped students develop essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. It also fostered an appreciation for democratic values, structured debate, and respectful disagreement within a legislative framework.

Overall, participation in the Student’s Parliament Competition proved to be an enriching and educational experience for both the students and the institution.
