ROBOCLUB of AITD in association with Institute Innovation Council (IIC) had organised ROBOTHON – Idea Pitching Competition under AICTE – Scheme for Promoting Interests, Creativity and Ethics among Students (SPICES) on 13th April 2023.

The objective of the competition is to provide the students a platform:

  • To identify unique ideas for the problems faced in Agriculture, Waste Management, Disaster Management, Travel/Tourism and Logistics
  • To apply an interdisciplinary approach to solve the various problems using Robotics in the above sectors

Mr. Yash Pednekar, Executive member of ROBOCLUB welcomed the Jury members, Teaching and non-teaching Faculty, Participants and Audience for the Competition. Ms. Lorraine Pinto Executive member of ROBOCLUB introduced the Jury members and Prof. Diksha Prabhu Khorjuvekar provided the overview and the Rules of the competition. 

The competition was judged by two Jury members, Mr. Ajinkya Bene, Consultant from Tata Consultancy Services and Ms. Megha Naik, Project Officer CARES, Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Goa. A total of 7 teams presented their ideas in the following domain: Robotics in Agriculture, Robotics in Waste management, Robotics in Disaster Management, Robotics in Travel/Tourism and Robotics in Logistics.

The ideas were evaluated based on the following criteria for the problem statement selected:

  • Novelty – Uniqueness of the idea in solving the given the problem statement.
  • Clarity – Clarity of the oral presentation in putting forward the idea.
  • Feasibility – The practicality of implementing the idea as a software or hardware.
  • Overall impact – How important & impactful is the idea in solving the problem selected. 

The Jury members were delighted and have expressed that all Ideas presented in the competition were innovative and recommended the teams for making Prototypes. Also, to convert their ideas into startups taking financial assistance from various funding agencies and Angel investors. 

Prof. Nora Naik and Prof. Gauri Gaunekar presented a Memento as a token of Love and appreciation to the Jury members. Ms. Suhesha Gaonkar proposed the Vote of Thanks. Prof. Shiva Krishna J, Prof. Vrushali Prabhudessai and Prof. Diksha Prabhu Khorjuvekar co-ordinated the competition and handed over the certificates to all the participants.
