AITD Hosts TechUrja 2020

Agnel Institute of Technology & Design organised the most awaited National Level Inter-Collegiate Technical Fest TechUrja2020 on 11th & 12th March 2020 in its campus. The event was engineered by the Student Councils of AITD, which includes SENSES, MEGA and ACCESS from Electronics & Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering Departments respectively. TechUrja2020 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Shashwat Gupta Ray, GT Resident Editor, Guest of Honour Prashant Deshpande, Operations Head of Tienda Advanced Material, Fr. Peter Fernandes, Assistant Director ATEC, Rev. Fr. Anthony Castello, Director ATEC, Principal Dr. V. Mariappan, Registrar Prof. Laxmikant Bordekar and SAC Incharge Prof. Shreedatta Sawant. TechUrja2020 witnessed participation from colleges across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa. Overwhelming response was recorded from the participants across various colleges from Goa. The event was publicised by media partners specifically Big92.7, Prudent Media, PrimeTV, Gomantak Times and Navhind Times.

Following were the highlights of the event:

MEGA

Robowar being most popular event in world saw participation of 8 teams with heavy fighting bots weighing 30 Kg. The event witnessed tremendous and exciting fights between the bots with good team spirit between the teams. The sound of steel crashing with steel made attracted lot of crowd near the arena and created waves of emotions during the robo-fights. Finally, team ARMD was the winner and team Alligator declared runner-up.

The other innovative and unique event was Junkyard (Hepahaestus Forge) where students were given metal scrap and were told to make a product out of it. The theme of the product was weapons and arms. The points were awarded based on maximum machining processes, maximum components, creativity and idea. The winner and runner-up teams were Team Top Gear and Bang Boys respectively.

The last event was FutSal, which witnessed participation of 6 teams. These teams played a league tournament and the winner was team from DBC, Panaji and runner-up was team Fab B of AITD.

SENSES

The treasure hunt (Odyssey) consisted of 3 rounds which included 2 elimination rounds and 1 final round. The elimination round was held in the third year ECE class on Day 1, wherein the team of students had to solve a word-search out of which 10 teams were qualified for the next round. In the 2nd round, the students were asked to complete a task and solve logic based questions. After the 2nd round, 5 teams got qualified for the final round. On the next day, the actual treasure hunt commenced, the teams had to scan QR codes which had clues that lead them to the next location. Team BHP from Padre Conceicao College of Engineering bagged the first prize by reaching to the destination in minimum time.

The Counter Strike tournament commenced on day 1 after the TechUrja2020 inaugural function, with knockout matches played first. Students from different colleges across Goa participated in the event. A special spectate area was allotted wherein the game was projected such that the crowd experiences the thrill of live gameplay also allowing gamers to fully focus on winning their battles. On day 2 the knockouts were continued. Team REKT emerged the tournament winners.

There were total 19 teams participated in Olympiad(Quiz). Students from different colleges across Goa participated in the event. It consisted of a total of five rounds. It started with an elimination round (written round). After Elimination only five teams were shortlisted for the other four rounds .Second round was Visualization Round followed by pass on round, Rapid Fire Round and the final, Buzzer Round. The Winner of this competition were Mr. Shreyash Joshi and Mr. Semper Invicta from AITD, Assagao. Runner ups were Ms. Sakshi Palekar and Ms. Lenita D’Souza from PCCE Verna.

ACCESS

Robo Soccer is a football tournament between manually controlled robots. The robot from one team has to push the ball into the opposite team’s goal post as well as prevent the opposite team from making a goal. The tournament consisted of initial knockout matches, quarter-final, semi-final and final matches. The event witnessed participation by 48 students in 16 teams from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The knockout matches and quarter-finals were held on Day-1 followed by semi-finals and final held on Day-2 of the event. Team of Mr. Vikrant Patil, Mr. Devendra Patil & Mr. Tapan Patil from JSPMS RSCOE, Pune-Maharashtra was the winner and the team comprising of Mr. Mahendra Desai and Mr Saieel Bhat,PCCE-Goa, Mr. Vishvek Chari, AITD-Goa was the runner-up.

A trial of Athena (CODING COMPETITION), a coding competition was conducted on 11th March 2020 with 18 participants comprising of 9 teams from various colleges across the state of Goa. The competition had four rounds: round – 1 (pre-qualifier), round – 2 (blind coding), round – 3 (black box coding), final – (jumbled code) with teams progressing in every round. The programming languages allowed were C and C++. Mr. Domingos Fernandes and Mr. Vipul Soman,  AITD Goa were declared as the winners & Mr. Pallav Walavarkar and Mr. Abhimanyu Purohit, AITD Goa were declared as runner-ups.

FIFA received the participation of 19 students from various colleges across state of Goa. The event was held on 11th March 2020 at AITD. Mr. Hansel Rodrigues, St.Xaviers College, Mapusa won the first place, while Mr. Sairaj Palyekar, St.Xaviers College, Mapusa was declared the runner-up.

MAYA was an Augmented Reality based design competition which saw the participation of 24 students divided into 13 teams. It showcased the talent of students in the field of Augmented Reality. The event was judged by Ms Aarti Kamat, Edutek Solutions, an authorized training and certification firm with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions.
