Traffic congestion caused by vehicle is an alarming problem at a global scale and it has been growing exponentially. Car parking problem is a major contributor and has been, still a major problem with increasing vehicle size in the luxurious segment and confined parking spaces in urban cities. Searching for a parking space is a routine (and often frustrating) activity for many people in cities around the world. In recent times the concept of smart cities has gained great popularity. The evolution of Internet of Things has made it possible to achieve smart parking system. The proposed Smart Parking system, allows the user to search for nearby available parking area. Once the user finds the appropriate parking area, he can reserve it for particular time period and the count of availability will be decremented on the website. If the user has booked the slot online the scan code is generated for him, thus when he’ll reach to the parking counter, he has to just scan the code. Once the code is scanned, it will show the parking slots for him and he can park his car to the available space. Once the car is parked the sensor will detect the obstacles and it will change the color of slot on website. With the available data set we’ll show probability of the vacant slot at the particular time. And if the parking is full we’ll suggest nearby parking area.
