Detection and classification of brain tumors using Naïve Bayes and J48 algorithms

A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells within the brain or spinal cord. A brain tumor can be dangerous as it can disrupt the proper function of the brain. Our project focuses on detecting and classifying whether brain tumor is cancerous (malignant) or noncancerous (benign) based on the abnormality of the cells growth in the brain. If a doctor suspects that someone has a brain tumor, the person will probably undergo a biopsy. This is a surgical procedure where a piece of a tumor is removed and sent to a lab for tests. The tests aim to identify whether a patient has a brain tumor or not. Using image processing techniques the MRI images of brain cells will first be analyzed and information will be extracted from those MRI images and further classified by comparing the data obtained with the existing data.
