The low cost groundnut shelling machine was designed and fabricated by the students Tulsidas Gaonkar, Atish Gawas, Pratish Nagvekar, Romero Fernandes and Andrich Fernandes belonging to the department of Mechanical Engineering, AITD Goa. Students were ably guided by Prof. Prabhudev Mallapur and Prof. Mahalngesh Bagali. The machine uses 1 HP motor for driving the pulley which in turn powers the beater. The beater along with the fan run by the same motor separates the groundnut from its shell and are collected in the tray. Machine has got size of 1370*835*1650 (l*w*h) mm and it weighs around 190 Kgs approximately. Test results showed that machine achieved the shelling efficiency of 86% and can operate with the capacity of 255 Kg/hr.
