Report on “Embedded Systems: An introduction to Embedded systems using 8051 microcontroller”

On the 27th and 28th of February 2020, SENCES of the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department of Agnel Institute of Technology and Design hosted a two day workshop on “Embedded Systems: An introduction to embedded systems using 8051 microcontroller” in the college premises. The workshop was led by Embudding Engineers . The workshop was based on understanding 8051 microcontroller, working with keil and flash magic, timers , counters , interrupts and its applications . The workshop was instructed by Mr. Blaise Sequeira, Mr. Sachin Hosamani , Baswaraj Huggi. The purpose of this workshop is to help students learn 8051 Programming. 30 students from the 2nd year of Electronics and Communication Engineering participated in the workshop. The session began with an introduction about Microcontroller, Software environment setup, criteria for selecting Micro controller and architecture of 8051 microcontroller. Students worked with keil , where they created and edited assembly level language codes. Basics of interfacing such as Led, switches, temperature sensor and Lcd display was also a part of the course. Students were also introduced to keil, where they were able to create a target files, .asm file and .c file and .hex file. The uploading was done by flash magic to micro controller was done. Finally all the participants had to do a mini project using all the knowledge provided to them during the course of the workshop.
