Report on Augmented Reality workshop

On the 30th and 31st of January 2020, SENCES of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Agnel Institute of Technology and Design hosted a workshop entitled Augmented Reality in the college premises. The workshop was led by Eduvance founded by Ph.D. alumni from U.S. universities. The workshop was based on understanding 3-D modelling, working with Unity, Vuforia, integration and application development. The workshop was instructed by Mr. Gokulnath Nair and Mr. Ashish Yadav.

The focus of this training was to give the student a hands-on experience of the latest technologies that are used in the industry. 40 students from the second year and final year of Electronics and Communication Engineering participated in the workshop. The course began with an introduction about Augmented Reality, Software environment setup, Basics of 3D Modeling and File Formats. Students worked with Blender, where they created and edited objects. Basics of Animation and Inserting keyframes was also a part of the course. Students were also introduced to Vuforia, where they were able to create a Developer Account and an Image Target. The building of an Android application using enablAR was done. Finally all the participants had to do a project using all the knowledge provided to them. The workshop helped students to interact and clear their doubts and understand every concept related to augmented reality.
